I've never been able to tolerate Star Wars.

It's terrible.

When I was younger, I enjoyed the original trilogy, and even read some of the books. I have to admit that I also enjoyed Episode I when I saw it in theaters, but I was 10 at the time, so I didn't have the best taste. I hated both Episodes II and III, and since seeing them, I haven't re-watched any of the movies, nor do I have any plans to do so, since I doubt they'd live up to my memories of them, so I prefer to leave them as memories. I can't say that I have any interest in this new movie.

The original trilogy was all that was ever needed. Adding more to the story and turning the original trilogy into episode 4, 5 and 6 was plain stupid.

Episode 1, terrible. Worst piece of garbage of the new millennium.
Episode 2, Nearly just as bad. Too much teen romance, not enough Jedi/Sith stuff. Star wars does not need teen romance, ever...
Episode 3, barely Okay, and I'll accept it as nothing more than a transition movie to explain how the Jedi died, how Padme died, and the second to last battle of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Erm - Jaks, the original trilogy already WAS Episodes 4,6, and 6.

Yes, I know. But there was a point before it was called 4, 5 and 6 where it was just called Star Wars.

the reason they made the second trilogy is because people wanted it. people wanted to see what the clone war's was all about. so George Lucas in his cleaver mind of his pleased his fans and made the second trilogy.

And yet they sucked big time. And do you want to know why? Irvin Kreshner and Richard Marquand didn't direct those episodes, unlike the other three.

Everyone I know thinks Episodes 1 and 2 were epic failures, and I mean EVERYBODY. Family, friends, acquaintances, people who joined in on the conversation while waiting for the bus.

And I still stand by my statement that Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are the only episodes even remotely worth watching and are the true episodes 1, 2 and 3.

Except, as Vickie pointed out, they have been called Episodes IV, V, and VI from the start. As a big Star Wars buff, I can vouch for that. I believe the only difference is that in the original theatrical cut of Star Wars, the "A New Hope" subtitle was not present during the opening credits. But I may be wrong about that.

Except a certain girl who has posted on this thread, but she was 10 at the time.  Wink  I took my two adopted little sisters to it - they seemed to enjoy it ok. They were 11 and 8 I believe. I myself am like Leanne and decided there was getting to be way too much stuff to remember for it to actually be enjoyable.  lol And yes, it was recognized as episodes 4,5, and 6 right from the beginning. No one questioned that.

I haven't even seen Episode II in its entirety. The other 2 I saw in theaters, but Episode II fell into that pocket of 'curse these theater prices' periods. You ever notice how we hardly refer to A New Hope, Empire and Return by their episode number, but we do for the prequels? I think it was because those subtitles weren't very good.

AAANYWAY, yeah, too much to remember. Probably indirectly related to the amount of unofficial canon I had gone through. I tried though, I went and saw Phantom Menace another time in theaters, bought the trading cards... stuff like that.

Heck, I can remember the exact conditions in which I watched the original trilogy. Tiny black and white TV, sister's room, rented from... Video Time, probably. (this has nothing to do with anything, I just wanted to say that)

And thus concludes my rant on nothing in particular.

I'll agree that Episode I sucked (with the exception of Darth Maul). I thought Episode II was uneven. The middle was very weak, but the last third was pretty cool and it moved the story along. Episode III looks good compared to Episodes I and II but fares poorly compared to the original trilogy.

Similar to my own feelings.

And, though episode 1 was awful, in my eyes, if you seriously think that it was the worst film of the new millennium then you need to purchase a calender and view a copy of Gigli, seeing as episode 1 came out in 1999 and Gigli was significantly worse and actually did come out in this millennium.

Heck, you don't even NEED to view a copy of Gigli just go here and read: http://www.agonybooth.com/recaps/Gigli_2003.aspx

Yes, they're pretty much just as good, as I have been able to identify the movies in question, in a split second shot, with no actors on screen... At least I did for Dean Koontz's Mr. Murder.

I saw episode 2 and it was a whole new world of poor. I started playing Snake on my phone during the film.

Done for the money. Cough.
