Sorry, but I just had to laugh when I saw Lara Croft and Star Trek TNG included in your list.  Wink

By and large, the Chinese are a very poor people. I highly doubt there will be many even at the Olympics, except for workers.

Then again, what do I know?

Plus, this quote from same article:
Quote:
Though previous Olympic Games have had problems filling seats for less popular events, venues in Beijing are expected to be filled with enthusiastic fans. Some tickets were given away to school groups and government work units in an effort to present packed stadiums to television viewers around the world.

(shudders) i as in china a few years ago for a missions trip  Cool . though wer covered it up say ing we where teaching highschool kids conversational english, but anywho while i was down their us americans took a few days for fun for ourselves, and one of the places we visited was tieneman square and the forbiden city all in one go kinda thing.

While your standing in tienamen you have a huge ass picture of mau starging down at the square and theirs still blood stains on the stone shapeing out the tank treads that ran those kids down. just being their brings a whole new feeling and meaning to what ppl thinkt they already know about it.

and on a side note......when i was their the students we where with also had a list of things they werent supposed to ask about.....acknowledge if asked about.....or even think of when we where their. and since they was all highscool kids....well they asked just for the sake of rebelling a bit lol.

Any chance you were associated with the "Let's Start Talking" missions group?

Incidentally, asking just to rebel wasn't a good idea. If you get arrested, you get kicked out of the country and not allowed to return (they'll block your passport), but those you associated with in China could get much worse.

Whilst the Chinese are largely poor, that's mostly because there are just so many of them away from large centres of economic activity. China has a huge number of exceptionally wealthy people as well. In fact, there are fewer foreigners at the Beijing Olympics than average.
